Metech International Renews ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:2004 Certification

Worcester, MA – January 24, 2006 –Metech International has renewed its ISO 9001:2000 and updated its ISO 14001:1996 certification to ISO 14001:2004 at both of its North American facilities following their recent review process. Metech, a leading recycler of electronic industrial manufacturing scrap, obsolete inventory, end-of-life electronics and non-conforming materials, is headquartered in Worcester, Massachusetts with additional facilities in Gilroy, California and Penang, Malaysia. All three facilities are ISO 9001 and 14001 certified. Through its Accountable Resource Management^® program, the company recovers valuable assets for clients, such as precious metals, and manages the reuse, recycling or environmentally responsible disposition of electronic materials.

ISO certification provides us with a globally recognized platform upon which to continuously improve our business practices. ”ISO 9001:2000 is an internationally recognized standard covering implementation of a quality management system, while ISO 14001:2004 offers a structured Environmental Management System (EMS). Metech was first certified to these standards in August 2001. In order to maintain certification, the company must pass an audit every three years, with additional audits every six months to confirm continued compliance to standards and procedures. The audit, conducted by an independent certification company, is a thorough review of all procedures and processes to confirm compliance and identify areas in need of improvement.
